Zolferate is a romantic holiday home in a restored 300-year-old stone barn, the most private of three one-bedroom holiday cottages at Podere Sant'Angelo, a small, family-run property set 700 metres high in the hills near Roccalbegna in the Maremma, southern Tuscany. Ideal for couples or small families seeking complete peace, privacy and nature, close to Saturnia and the Etruscan hill towns.
Zolferate is 50 m² in total, with a double bedroom, a fold-out armchair and a sofa bed in the living area, perfect for couples or a small family. The interior combines high ceilings, chestnut beams, terracotta floors and an open fireplace with a well-equipped kitchen, creating a warm and characterful Tuscan atmosphere.
Zolferate is the most private of the three cottages at Podere Sant'Angelo, with its own secluded garden, a shaded pergola with a dining table and sun loungers, and a quiet position in the hills of the Maremma. A lovely spot for long outdoor lunches, reading in the shade or simply enjoying the surrounding countryside. Several walks begin directly from the property along quiet strade bianche and countryside tracks through the hills around Roccalbegna. You can also hire an e-bike in Roccalbegna to explore further afield.
The estate is known for its Mediterranean garden of lavender, rosemary and old roses, wide-open views and unforgettable sunsets. After dark, the Milky Way is clearly visible, far from light pollution.
The other cottages, Albegna and Capitorio, share the same peaceful setting and are available to book separately.
Podere Sant'Angelo makes an ideal quiet base for slow travel in southern Tuscany and all the highlights below are within 30 to 90 minutes.

Zolferate accommodates two adults and one child (up to 12 years). A cot and high chair are available for younger guests.

Good to know: Podere Sant'Angelo lies off the main road network. The holiday home is reached after about three kilometres on a well-maintained strada bianca, an unmade gravel road typical of the Tuscan countryside, ensuring peace, privacy and authentic rural charm.

Beautiful estate
We would like to thank our very friendly host Graham for the three heavenly weeks in cottage Zolferate. His estate is beautiful. Lots of privacy in our own garden, with the most beautiful flowers, herbs and butterflies. Everything we needed was available. He also had useful tips for nice trips in the area. The world is peaceful hier
The house is perfect to have a relaxed holiday. Located in the countryside, very cozy and clean. Bedroom is amazing, spacious and comfortable. The house has a fireplace, which makes the house specially comfy and warm at night. The bathroom is very clean, and we loved the high quality of towels available. I definitely recommend this property to everyone willing for peace and quiet surrounded by the mountains in the Tuscany countryside. My special thanks to Graham, for his kindness and for his promptness, providing us with a barbecue.
Our stay met all our expectations and even more
Fantastic place. The view from the terrace asked for a good painter. And the incredible silence we wanted after living in a big city for a year. A friendly and helpful owner who can always advise you is a great advantage of this place.

Eine kleine feine Ferienwohnung, mit allen was für einen entspannten Urlaub notwendig ist. Wir haben sehr viele Anregungen für Ausflüge vor Ort, durch Gespräche mit dem Vermieter erhalten. Wir kommen sicher einmal wieder.

Starry starry night in Tuscany
We had a very pleasant stay - lovely apartment, helpful and friendly owner and amazing views of the Tuscan hills. the only problem was that it was too short - only one night. But what a night! I've never seen the stars so clearly - the Milky Way was very visible. We'll be back!
Unforgettable stay in deepest Tuscany
Podere Sant'Angelo is located in the Maremma district of Tuscany, surrounded by stupendous scenery. The cottages are comfortable and tastefully decorated with outdoor patios for sunbathing, star-gazing or watching the sunset. There are trails around the property for wildlife enthusiasts (we saw deer, eagles and a wild boar). If you can tear yourself away from the apartment and beautiful garden, you can visit medieval villages nearby and relax in the hot springs of Saturnia. thank you Graham. We had a wonderful stay.
